A common accusation for the skeptics, when faced with
prophecy of earth changes for the upcoming years, is to blame it all on
'Millennium Madness'. So, what makes 2000 AD any different to 1000 AD?
Why is this a pivotal time for human civilisation?
1. Christian Millennium -
2000 years after the birth of Christ (numerically if not in actuality)
2. Symbolically 6000 years after biblical creation of the world.
3. Christian prophecy: particularly Marian sources such as Fatima
4. Buddhism: final turn of the Wheel of Dharma (ends ~2000 AD)
5. Hindu: end of the age of Kali
6. Hopi Prophecy
7. Mayan/ Aztec prophecies - End of time 2012
8. Native American Indian Prophecy
9. Incredible conjunction of Astronomical phenomena
10. Great Pyramid at Giza timeline's events for ~2000 AD
11. Mother Shipton's Last Prophecy 1999/ 2000
12. Nostradamus 1999
13. Edgar Cayce - Pole Shift 1999 to 2001
14. Jeane Dixon 1999
15. Hermes Trismegistus
16. 42 Prophecies for 1999/ 2000
Apocalypse for the Hindu is the natural ending of the world in the fourth age (cf. Hopi), the Kali Age. It is one of a series of apocalypses, each of which marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of another creation. The central figure inthe story is Vishnu, the preserver God, into whose self the world is absorbed before being born again. Vishnu has already saved humanity on a number of occasions, symbolically appearing as a savior in many different forms. Vishnu incarnates in 10 avatars, of which there have been 9, the last three have been:
7. Rama 8. Khishna 9. Buddha
It is said that He will appear again soon, as Kalki 'the
avenger', riding a white horse (a close parallel with the Book of Revelations),
destined to destroy the present world (the corrupt age of the goddess Kali)
and to take humanity to a different, higher plane (the golden age of
Krita). [see the Puranas]
The Hopi Indians have a prophetic tradition dating back
thousands of years. One of their crucial prophecies was carved on a rock
cliff in the Black Mesa of Arizona, some 2000 years ago. This petroglyph
(as described by Sun Bear and others) depicts the great spirit pointing
to two divergent historical paths across the era of our world (the fourth
The upper path basically shows the path of 'white' culture (material world/ technological path) and the lower marks the true Hopi path (or spiritual world). At one point the two paths are joined by a vertical line (demarking the arrival of European settlers). Shortly after, two large circles mark the positions of the 1st and 2nd world wars. A bit further along, the heavy dark vertical line, is the decision time i.e. which path to follow, which is today. Following this is a third circle marking what the Hopi call the 'Great Day of Purification' marking earthly upheavals and the 'return of the Great Spirit'. After this event, the upper path zigzags and fades out, while the lower (spiritual path) blossoms into the next (5th) world. See http://www.dreamscape.com/morgana/iapetus.htm for a comprehensive explanation.
Like the Maya, Aztec, and other Native American tribal wisdom traditions, the Hopi tell of a series of 'worlds' which have existed. Each may be thought of as a cycle of civilisation. A common aspect is that we are currently in the 4th world. The Hopi describe the demise of the other worlds as follows:
1st world: ended when all of the volcanoes of the world erupted and an all consuming fire engulfed and destroyed the first world.
2nd world: ended when the poles shifted and the earth was covered in ice. Mountains fell into oceans and seas.
3rd world: "The third world was very corrupt and this time it would be destroyed through water. Taiowa sent Spider Woman to talk to the people who still carried the Creator's song in their hearts. She taught them how to build large boats out of reeds. This, they did, and when their boats were sealed, the waters began to flood the world. The noise of the rushing waters was incredible. Large continents sunk and broke apart into small islands. Incredible rains fell. Then it stopped, and there was silence. The reed boats drifted the people over the silent waters for a long time. When their boats finally stopped on a new coastline, the people walked onto the dry lands for the first time. They had emerged into the fourth world. This is the world we are all living in today."
The Hopi account of the end of the previous 3rd world by a 'cleansing' by way of great flood fits in well with Cayce and others. In fact, similar traditions of a worldwide catastrophe exist among peoples of all continents including Scandinavians, Greeks, Egyptians, Hebrews, Sumerians, Babylonians, Persians, Hindus, Fiji Islanders, Eskimos, native North and South Americans and many other sources.
The Hopis mark the end of the 4th world as a purge by
fire (cf. Edgar Cayce above). The end of the fourth world (called Tuwaqachi
by the Hopi) is described thus (see Book Of The Hopi, by Frank Waters).
Eventually a gourd full of ashes would be invented, which if dropped from the sky would boil the oceans and burn the land causing nothing to grow for many years (atomic bomb). This would be the sign for a certain Hopi to bring out his teachings in order to warn the world that the third and final event would happen soon. That it could bring an end to all life unless people correct themselves and their leaders in time.
The final stage, called "The great day of Purification", has been described as a "Mystery Egg" in which the forces of the swastika and the Sun plus a third force symbolized by the color "red" culminate either in total rebirth or total annihilation, we don't know which. But the choice is yours, war and natural catastrophe may be involved. The degree of violence will be determined by the degree of inequity caused among the peoples of the world and in the balance of nature. In this crisis rich and poor will be forced to struggle as equals in order to survive.
The reality that it will be very violent is now almost taken for granted among Traditional Hopi, but man still may lessen the violence by correcting his treatment of nature and fellow man. Ancient spiritually-based communities, such as the Hopi, must especially be preserved and not forced to abandon their wise way of life and the natural resources they have vowed to protect.
Some markers and signs:
Mayan/ Aztec prophecies
The Mayans, a civilisation of great sophistication and excellence in Astronomy, disappeared suddenly from the jungles of Central America around 830 AD. Like the Aztecs after them, the Mayan's made reference to the world being created and destroyed several times. They believed they were living in the 5th age of the sun, and that 4 previous ages had existed. The Mayans believed that there had been great death and destruction at the end of each of the previous worlds. The Aztec description of the end of the 4 suns is as follows:
1st sun - destroyed by water
2nd sun - destroyed by wind
3rd sun - destroyed by fire
4th sun - destroyed by rain of fire and blood.
(there is some controversy concerning the correct ordering).
The Mayans date the end of the previous world (4th sun) as 13 August 3114 BC (Long count calendar). The date for the end of the current world has been decoded as just before sunset, Central American time, 21 December 2012.

Hermes Trismegistus (circa 1st Century CE)
"There will come a time when it will have been in vain that Egyptians have honored the Godhead with heartfelt piety and service; and all our holy worship will be fruitless and ineffectual. The Gods will return from earth to heaven; Egypt will be forsaken, and the land which was once the home ofreligion will be left desolate, bereft of the presence of its deities.
"They will no longer love this world around us, this incomparable work of God, this glorious structure which he has built, this sum of good made up of many diverse forms, this instrument whereby the will of God operates in that which he has made, ungrudgingly favoring man's welfare.
"Darkness will be preferred to light, and death will be thought more profitable than life; no one will raise his eyes to heaven; the pious will be deemed insane, the impious wise; the madman will be thought a brave man, and the wicked will be esteemed as good.
"As for the soul, and the belief that it is immortal by nature, or may hope to attain to immortality, as I have taught you; all this they will mock, and even persuade themselves that it is false. No word ofreverence or piety, no utterance worthy of heaven, will be heard or believed.
"And so the Gods will depart from mankind, -- a grievous thing! -- and only evil angels will remain, who will mingle with men, and drive the poor wretches into all manner of reckless crime, into wars, and robberies, and frauds, and all things hostile to the nature of the soul.
"Then will the earth tremble, and the sea bear no ships; heaven will not support the stars in their orbits, all voices of the Gods will be forced into silence; the fruits of the Earth will rot; the soil will turn barren, and the very air will sicken with sullen stagnation; all things will be disordered and awry, all good will disappear.
"But when all this has befallen, then God the Creator of all things will look on that which has come to pass, and will stop the disorder by the counterforce of his will, which is the good. He will call back to the right path those who have gone astray; he will cleanse the world of evil, washing it away with floods, burning it out with the fiercest fire, and expelling it with war and pestilence.
